Working Hard + Partying Hard

Work has been really really crazy if you noticed I have not blogged for almost a month!


It has been so hectic that meals were so irregular I basically have my lunch and dinner in front of the office PC. As crazy as it may sound, NO, I did not lose any weight given the fact that before/ during/ after eating, I still remain seated in front of my monitor!


Boooo to that!


Weekdays, I work really hard, spending a minimum of 12 hours in the office (9.00am - 9.00pm) to 14 hours (9.00am - 11pm) in the office, making it THE PLACE WHERE I SPEND MOST OF MY TIME AT compared to my bed which I only utilise it at 12am/ 1am to 7am!


To balance my life, I party hard during weekends. I mean, yeah I really party!





Belvedere Vodka for now. Soon, I will upgrade it to Grey Goose (hopefully got $$$)! It was a really fun night at Sky Bar with 2 person puking at the end of the night (NOT me!)

First week was Sky Bar. Second week was Hennessy Artistry @ Quottro! It was so damn crowded and so damn packed and Quottro is such a bad place to hold Artistry!!








Overall though the bar closed too early, I still managed to get hold of 5-6 glasses thanks to TJ and Q Fung lining all the way to get drinks for us girls. There were also performances by Boys Like Girls and Lenka but it was so packed I could hardly breathe!


Went to Subang to have my first try on Shisha after that. TJ said I'm bad at Shisha. WTF.


Third week was Zouk but pics not with me. Fourth week was Sangria @ La Bodega which we took no pics.


Shit. I'm drinking every single week. This is bad for health and pocket!


Today is Sunday. Back to working life tomoro.


I hate it.

On Upgrades

Basically when you start to enter a cosmetics & fragrance company, you gotta automatically upgrade your own brands as well (depending where you work). From what I have been using previously, I gotta say BYE BYE to them because it's time to switch brands

Though those are my company's products I just bought as it was on SALE but how low could a Guerlain or YSL go right? I'm really really broke right now and I really hope those products can beautify my very tired face (from working 12-14 hours a day in the office)


Let's hope they do miracles ya or else I'll cry after spending so much on them!

It's all about the glam!

Most of you might have read my previous entry on my last day with URC, the company that I have spent 2 years with. When I think of chinese food, I think of my life in URC - a journey that contains all elements of sweetness, sadness, bitterness and sourness in my heart. But life has to go on, and I have to move on.




If one thing that I am grateful of, it is the things I learnt and in the end I know I got a certain value in the market for my portfolio and good results :) Yes, indeed my GM were trying his best to ask me to stay a few times personally but I passed for I know the direction that I would wanna head for. Even if the company offers me a salary of 10x more, I will still make the decision to leave.


So where do I head for after URC (Jack n Jill)?


Nope. It's not FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) anymore for I am tired for how things are done. I'm sick of churning out figures from Nielsen. I'm sick of doing analysis for nationwide, digging every single corner for info. I'm sick of going market visits sitting in unconditioned vans, following people I do not know, going to filthy and smelly sundry shops and carrying 30 over boxes all by myself.


I'm joining the world of prestige Cosmetics & Fragrances baby!



I know it's kind of random from doing such a low value mass product to such a high end niche product right? It has always been a dream of mine to get into the Beauty Line but just that I think it's wiser/ better to get into a FMCG to learn a broader pic, to touch on every part before going for a niche job. It was a great move because I was offered the job by all 3 large beauty companies I applied for :) I shall not reveal yet which company I'm working for right now but a very famous veteran in the beauty industry cum MD interviewed me for THREE hours! I rejected the job offered by the direct competitor of theirs for 3 times since last year while the other one I had to reject for they came back too late to me eventhough the GM called me personally to offer me the job and to reconsider :) Yay I'm wanted!!




Though it is a dream job, perhaps a dream job for most ladies out there to be surrounded by all the luxurious skincare, cosmetics and fragrances from all around the world, there are also sacrifices to be made. For example, waking up at an unGodly hour of 6am+ EVERY MORNING to get stuck in the jam heading to KL, changing my entire wardrobe to fit into their culture, freezing every day in office for their air condition is so damn cold, spending lot more on expensive food, and staying late EVERY NIGHT.


Yes, it is indeed a No Day, No Night job. It means going to work early, gome home late. Just imagine my workload is already very heavy just after 2 weeks in there. I wake up at 6am+ and only goes home at 8.30pm EARLIEST and a few times till 11pm at night. I averagely spend 12-14 hours at work everyday. By the time I reach home to have dinner, it's already 9.30pm the earliest and there have been many times I only get to have dinner at 11pm. Tiring huh?


Well, if you want something, you gotta forgo some other stuff. While my life in URC was stressful as well, I had much leisure time doing things at work and only staying till 9pm the latest at work. But it was not something that I want.



Eversince joining this new company, I hardly have time to spend time outside office and even at home. I didn't have the time anymore for catching ups, for SMSing or talking on the phone or even doing a facial mask at home! Sighhhh





But I'll work hard!

My Farewell ...... so long Jack n Jill

As some of you may have already know, I have left URC, the company that holds Jack n Jill last Friday and have immediately started a new job on 1st September. Yeah no holiday or rest time for me at all as the new company wanted me to go in early.



My boss called me into the merchandising room to do my final handover which I kept questioning her why I gotta do it when it's so obvious I got nothing in my hands anymore.


So, just to satisfy her, I came out with a very brief one and was expecting to be scolded by her as always (selalu simply scold people).


Mana tahu not only never scold.... suddenly the rest of the colleagues barged into the room to wish me a farewell!


They asked a designer to design the picture and bought a frame to frame it up for me.


WTF why use my old ugly pictures!! Each picture was selected by each of them with a message for me.


Since my very good fren 'Hiao Po' was outstation, I pose with her products like posing with her :)

Both my boss and my director gave a speech and then it was my turn when it turned really emotional..... I wanted the others to cry not me ok!

My snacks team members whom shares my part of suffering to be in that group. It's really not easy to manage the snacks division.


Kevin, leaving on the jet plane to Australia the next day till 8 days after I'm gone! Also my successor to Roller Coaster.


It was really difficult for me to let go of the brand that I've built, nurtured and grow for the past 1.5 years, making huge differences to the brand. My portfolio/resume in my 2 years of tenure there looks very promising one ok? Hehe

I used to complain about my company like mad. Like how heavy the workload is, how the people work there, the culture and all. But now that I'm in a new company, people are not as warm, as welcoming as URC. Workload is getting heavier by the day and I just got an information overload for the day. Given brands that are not really doing well, I just gotta work even harder to produce good results. However, the decision has been made and I gotta live by it no matter what.


As the saying goes, "Leaving today for a better tomorrow"........

23rd Birthday @ Prime, Le Meridian

My birthday was about a month ago and I know it's kind of late to blog about this now but now that I have the time, might as well right? Actually I like to blog about food, places to eat and hotel stays. Reason is an avid "researcher" like me would always want to research on a lot of things and places before I go there. I do very extensive research wherever I go :)


Anyway, this year, G was very secretive. He didn't want to reveal where he would be bringing me for my Birthday dinner. The only hint he gave me was the place isn't cheap and it's famous for steaks (though he can't take beef). After asking the orang atasan Lim Eiling, I finally had a clue where he would be bringing me - Prime @ Le Meridian Hotel.


G made a reservation and we were seated as soon as we arrived in a quiet corner.



I thought Prime is a very atasan place and its decor must be very luxurious and extensive but this is nothing like what i've expected.... it's a bit too ..... simple.



Warm towel to wipe whatever you would wanna wipe (can wipe armpit??? haha)



1 very bad thing about me is that I do not know how to appreciate beer and wine hence I only ordered warm water. Seriously, I hate beer and wine. Love cocktails and hard liquor though :)


We were served their complimentery bread. On the left side it was really nice but on the right side, there were some spices or something which I didnt like at all.



The bread was served with 3 choices of butter which i forgotten what were they... inilah akibat tak blog awal awal. However I still prefer the Itallian way with Balsamic Vinegar.


Lamb Shank @ RM 80. The portion is quite big but G managed to finish it alone. I never liked Lamb/ Mutton therefore I didn't try this one.




200 days grain fed Australian Black Angus Ribeye 220g @ RM 120 (without any sides)


I gulped when I looked at the price and feeling the pain for G's wallet, I ordered a 200 days grain fed instead of the 120 days cos it was at RM 150



I ordered it to be Medium but it kind of turned out like Medium rare don't you think?? I find the steak here quite normal.... nothing special nor anything to shout about.



I ordered another side dish of Truffle Mashed Potatoes @ RM 15



As for the sauce, I chose the Porcini Mushroom Sauce to go with which is pretty good. I am very fussy when it comes to mashed potatoes but the ones served here are quite good.



It was my birthday so they prepared a slice of cake for me and sang a Bday song as well



I was so stupid I didnt know it was for me and I was asking G "Eh donno whose birthday leh hoh?" when I saw the waitresses singing the song from a few tables away



To be honest, I loved his initiative and all but the food was only so-so... it doesnt even deserve to be so overrated!
